Ukraine has made an outstanding contribution into the preservation and strengthening of the international nuclear nonproliferation regime and into the counteraction against the threats of nuclear terrorism. Historical steps taken by Ukraine to abandon nuclear weapons and highly enriched uranium still keep raising fierce but often superficial discussions in Ukrainian society, which resulted among others into reappearance of unjustified calls for resumption of the nuclear status of Ukraine. Materials of this section are to contribute to an objective and comprehensive consideration of this problem and to raise the level of the relevant discussions.
